Designers are taught to focus on user needs. Business leaders tend too often rather look at the balance sheet. Business designers help bring the two perspectives together. But how does that work in practice and what do you need to consider? What are the most common pitfalls and how can you systematically be prepared for them?

In this talk Tuomas offers his take on the relatively new discipline of business design and how it can work best for both designers and business people. He shares a range of practical examples, tools, failures and learnings from his own work.

About Tuomas Silverang

Tuomas is a bridge-builder between technology, business and design. A former startup founder and digital marketing expert, now senior business designer at Futurice. He’s worked with both established industry leaders and startups including Daimler, Zalando, 8fit, E.ON, HeyCar and Cargotec. Before Futurice, Tuomas spent several years building his own medical device company. He still looks at everything with an entrepreneurial eye, eager to challenge old assumptions and industry standards.
